Our Family - Celebrating July 4th

When I married, my husband,Garrett, didn't like fireworks at all so we always went to the big professional displays. We had to get there early so we could get a place on the hillside and watch the huge fireworks spectacular in Provo, Utah. While we waited in our van, Garrett read a fun book to the kids and we munched on goodies. It was a fun evening.

I took this photo on July 4, 1988 when I was trying to learn how to photograph fireworks.

Later, when our children were gone, Garrett and I sat in our car on a hill in Mapleton and watched Springville's fireworks a couple of miles away. When our small town of Mapleton grew large enough to have it's own fireworks, we parked on our undeveloped land south of town and enjoyed the fireworks. It was on the 24th of July, Pioneer Day, because that was the big celebration for our town.

When we moved to St George, we were concerned about missing the huge firework displays we had enjoyed in northern Utah. We were thrilled to learn that St George, Utah had a wonderful fireworks display. We now get a parking place on the bluff overlooking the town and watch the fireworks with our daughter and her family.
