Our Family - Trip to Navuoo

In May of 1994, we decided to take Laura and Dan out of school and head to Licking Missouri for Garrett’s 30 year High School reunion. Laura was home a lot with all the construction that was being done at the Junior High anyway. We also felt that this was a great opportunity for our children to see more of the United States. It was the only time we traveled with just Laura and Dan. They enjoyed traveling and were very close to each other, which made the trip a wonderful experience for us all.

We traveled in our new van, camping along the way. Since it was so early in the season, we had most places to ourselves which we enjoyed. Our favorite place to camp was a place in Nebraska. Another place we enjoyed in Nebraska was Buffalo Bill’s ranch. The highlight of our trip was the time that we spent in Nauvoo, Illinois. Some people who lived near the restored village of Nauvoo, allowed us to camp in their backyard. We all had a great time visiting the blacksmith shop, the school, printing office, and other homes. We were also very impressed with the size of the Mississippi River.

We will always be grateful for this special time that we were able to spend with our two younger children. We enjoyed sharing this Church history site with them and also remembering some of our ancestors who lived there many years ago.
