Our History - 1998 Just the Two of Us

 Trips with Garrett: Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, Utah.

Visiting Dad Merrick and family in Akron, Ohio; Kirkland Ohio and the , Goodyear Mansion in Akron, Ohio.

Going on postal training trips to Norman, Oklahoma with Garrett and see the Cowboy, Science, Hands-on Museums there. I useing the gym, writing, & health evaluation.

We Start fixing up our home: paint kitchen door

We sell our condo that Julene and Laura had lived in and the money we received was $30 more than what we paid for it.

We clean downstairs and make Dan’s old room into library with deep shelves.

We cover the Family room floor with red rugs.

June- David and Amy buy home in Pleasant Grove. Garrett helps remove carpet, clean, and help fix up their home.

Garrett sands our bedroom walls and repaints it.

We take engagement pictures of David and Amy.

I remove old wallpaper from bathroom and kitchen. We paint the cupboards soft white to match the kitchen walls.

We move the stove to north kitchen wall and the freezer into kitchen on west wall.

We help David put in hot tub and flooring at his home as he pushes to finish home before his wedding.

David and Amy White are married on October 3, 2002 in the Timpanoges Temple in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Mom and Lew come to the reception at White home, dinner we gave at the Pizza Factory. We attend their present opening.

Our sons help us put in a new water heater.

We buy a treadmill.

Cheryl becomes very ill with milk diet.

I decorate with lace and plants and we Get rid of many things in attic.

Get rid of the grass in the front yard and plant periwinkle instead.

Julene moves out of condo and we sell it; put futon in our family room

We buy a closet for our entrance room and paint entrance room and stairs yellow.

We paint our downstairs family room floor green covering over the old linoleum tiles.

We Put in kitchen corner lights.

We Remove the old rock wool insulation from the attic and replace it with new fiberglass insulation.

We Paint the attic floor and rewire the house. Dan helps us with the attic and yard pruning. He spent most evenings with us and had dinner for the 1st year that he was out on his own.

David and Dan help Garrett rebuilt our roof and put on new shingles.

Becca is born on July 1, 2003 to David and Amy. We are Grandparents!

David and Amy give us a 2nd computer.

Garrett is called to lockup out church each night.

Both of us are asked to be ward Family History Consultants.

I begin Teaching creative writing at Mapleton Elementary in Mrs Eddington’s 3rd grade class and Substituting for her. I take summer classes to recertify my elementary teaching credential.

I taught that Summer at the Springville library teaching writing.

I had Four articles published in the Ensign magazine.

Misty lives on front porch since she is too old to be out.

We are Missing Dan and sorrow for his decisions and actions.

We Take out the shelves in upstairs hallway. We Take out wall in laundry room and buy dishwasher which we put there.

We Put laminate wood floor in laundry area and upper back stairs.

We Help David put in a deck.

Garrett cuts his beard when he is called to serve in the Provo Temple on Saturday mornings for two years.

We made a Family trip to the Hoggle zoo (Becca’s first time). We flew kite and did egg hunt, parades, Folkfest together, and Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners and present opening.

We went to Conley family reunion in Akron, Ohio.

While David in Denver for summer finishing his Contractor degree, help Amy with the kids.

I Teach a personality class for the Community School in the evening.

Julene receives her Associate’s degree.

While working on our house siding, Garrett falls and sprains wrists and doesn't notice for hours. He Remove our old trees.

December Laura is hit by a truck while at a stop light; She sprained entire back; and is in therapy.


March 2006 Laura and Theon buy home in Kearns (Salt Lake);

Garrett helps them put in laminate floors & paint

May 2006 Theon graduates from UVSC in Business Management

David graduates from BYU in Construction Management;

graduation in Provo Tabernacle; dinner

Simplify home- give away silk plants and things not using (even big Christmas tree)

Growing pyrocanthia hedge around yard and Virginia Creeper on south fence

Move dining table downstairs to family room

Take out closet in family room; track lights; fix window frames; move stove

Paint rest of down floor green

Exercise room with treadmill; guest room with water bed (girls old room); library in boys old room; family/ dinning room; play room in old closet

Make entrance to house east door (painted green)

Tutoring neighbor girls in reading

Laura works for new company as advertizing manager

Laura has dental surgery on gums; twice!

David gets job as construction manager

Get high chair, play pen, Three Wheeler (real grandparents now!)

Get patio furniture

Garrett still runs on 24th Fun Run

Garrett put in driveway around house; moves basketball standard

Second grandchild, Logan Merrick, is born November 6, 2006 to David & Amy!

Theon gets job selling stocks

Buy DVD recorder; putting tapes on DVD’s

We buy new computers and printer

Garrett takes more Postal Training classes in Norman Oklahoma but I stay home

I cut my hair very short

Garrett serves as clerk at BYU 72 ward; Ron Coppieters bishop; Mike Deming 1st Counselor

March 2007 I quit teaching at school

Eating careful diabetic diet; feeling better; losing pound a week

Begin stretches & exercising; getting stronger; less pain

Home stream-lined and in order


Rest

A time to nurture self, our marriage, children, & grandchildren

A time to manage our home & cook good meals

A time for recovering: to rest & relax, study & think

A time of quietness & simplicity

A time to be at home and enjoy the sunshine

to write my history & poems, and tutor neighbors

A time of healing


Things I like to Do

8 hours a week Church Service Mission on lds.org

2 hours a week volunteer writing for Church

Keep up email correspondence with about 100 people each month

includes cards to 8 widows

emails to all ward missionaries

visiting teacher to 6 sisters (4 are missionaries)

Family History (about 30 min a day)

putting into FamilySearch Family Tree

data, photos, stories (writing some), documents


Gospel Study

morning study 1 hr; scriptures and seminary manuals

evening 30 min manuals and Church magazines


Business

partner - communication, planning, advertizing


Adrenal Blog- 100,000 page views in four years


Write poetry- over 500 poems so far (is my journal of thought)


Visit with mom and friends several hours a week


Study daily

personality, world culture and history, health, art (this week)


Also I exercise, clean, cook, decorate, organize, order online, and do research online
