Our Family - Helping our Grown Children

We naively thought that we would have little to do to help our children after they moved out of our home. We didn’t realize that though they were riding“solo”, we were their training wheels.

Our daughters needed help finding and buying an apartment where they could live together while they went to college. We gave our daughter, Laura, a wedding and our son, David, a wedding dinner. We helped them both make their affordable, but definitely “fixer-upper” houses into homes where they could live.

We taught how to repair things, gave advice on child raising, tended grandchildren when they needed help, helped our single daughter move, and even enabled our oldest son get a business going so he could support his family. Our days were full as we gave our children encouragement, applauded their successes, shared our love with them, and helped them all we could. It was very satisfying to see them grow as they gained confidence in their own abilities.
